Default Necro or ritualist for noob?

Hi guys, got the game 2 days ago (great game BTW). I love pet classes and was set to do a necro but I have a bit of trouble making it work, getting the first corpses, etc. So I wonder if ritualist would be a better choice for a new player like myself because I don't have to worry about having corpses first. I know there is a Rit/N build but this seems around exploiting things and seems a bit complicated to play. Any advice appreciated

Ritualists are a necromancer's love child. Just stick with necros but start using curses

minion masters peak once you hit lvl20 in normal mode.
at your low level, the minions will also be low level and will die very quickly. not to mention that in the beginning areas, there arent a whole lot of corpses to use.

i'd recommend to put all your attributes into death magic. and as soon as you can, get a death magic rune to further increase your death magic level. this will keep your minions as high level as possible to help them last longer.

[blood of the master] is one of the most important skills in helping to maintain an army. you have to judge how often to use it to keep your army alive without running your health too low.

.

If you are running a MM you might want to also add [death nova] and [dark bond] .

As mentioned above, MMs become somewhat less effective at higher levs and maintaining DN is done far more efficiently on a hero ( if you get some ).

DN can make a mm pretty effective, even at hight levels.

A human character would be better off in curses (NOT at lower levels) Lots of damage, damage mitigation and very survivable.

1. Start with hexes.

2. You can be good or suck with either classes. For a new player, I recommend necro.

Go with necro.

But either do blood or curses.
Death is useless at such a low level.

But you could do ritualist. they are a fun class to play.

Necromancer mate.
From what I've been told Ritualist's are very challenging.

for a new person definatly stick with your Necro. it's a very newbie friendly class, but it still is rewarding for the experienced player.
until level 20 just stick with the skills that you get from the quests you do, dont know which campaign(s) you have so I cant say which skills you got, but whatever they are they are your only option now

when you reach level 20 you can check the builds on PvX or other sources. note that I dont personally recommend any of those builds, however they're a good source for standard working builds for all classes and all purposes(PvP, PvE, farming, general play, etc) so it's a good place to start from.

keep in mind that by that time you'll want to have elites skills, search wiki to see where are the bosses you need to kill for the elites you want, than go kill them with a [signet of capture] equipped so you can learn their elite skill.
